Margao: Roads dug for laying Underground Cables by Goa Electricity Department headed by Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar have turned into “Death Traps” in Curtorim. I demand that the Collector of South Goa must immediately give Orders to restore all the roads back to their original form, stated Congress Leader & Zilla Panchayat Member Michelle Rebelo.
Taking up the issue of Bad Condition of Roads due to Digging by Goa Electricity Department to lay Underground Cables in Curtorim Constituency, Michelle Rebelo submitted a Letter to Srinet Kothwale, Additional Collector South Goa drawing his attention to the inconvenience caused to the local Residents.
I want to bring to your notice that the roads in Maina Curtorim have been dug up for Underground Cabling purpose but are left unattended with major deep pits in the middle causing grave danger to the Traffic and Pedestrians at large, stated Michelle Rebelo in her Letter.
It is most unfortunate that the Electricity Department is not learning lessons even after taking Lives of Citizens and Animals. Government has become completely insensitive towards the Safety & Security of the Citizens. Government has no Mechanism to monitor the work of Underground Cabling, charged Michelle Rebelo.
I hope the Government will take immediate Cognizance of my Letter and act, failing which I will be compelled to come on the roads with my Supporters to ensure Safety of Residents of Curtorim. Government will be responsible for any untoward Incident or Law & Order situation arising in Curtorim due to negligence of Electricity Department, warned Michelle Rebelo.
