SANCOALE: Former Sancoale Sarpanch Premanand Naik has gone on a hunger strike demanding the immediate revocation of the construction licence issued to Parnesh construction aka Bhutani Infra project
Naik began his agitation with a hunger strike on Monday against the alleged wrong doings of the Sancoale Panchayat and has said that he will not quit the hunger strike till such time that the construction licence issued to Bhutani is revoked by the Sancoale Panchayat
” This project had been proposed in our Sancoale village at the same location in the year 2007 in the name of MTech and I was a Sarpanch then. The people of the village were against the project and we decided to stand with the people. With the support of our Ex MLA And Dy Speaker Late Simon Dsouza , we agitated against the project and approached the High court to get the project scrapped. The same project has now resurfaced in the name of Parnesh construction aka Bhutani Infra. The people are against it and have protested and the Cortalim MLA Anton Vas also supported the people by raising the issues in the legislative assembly. The TCP Minister Vishwajeet Rane and CM Dr Pramod Sawant assured the people in the assembly that the project will be cancelled. However when we personally met Vishwajeet Rane , he denied his role and blamed another politician and when we met CM Dr Pramod Sawant, he did the same by denying his role and blaming some one else. This blame game will cost our village very dearly and destroy our environment if the project is approved ” said Naik
” Secondly, after a huge protest and outcry by locals and activists across Goa, the Sancoale Panchayat decided to issue a show cause notice to Bhutani and assured the people that it will revoke the licence if Bhutani fails to provide necessary licence and approvals..The Panchayat also decided to table the recived reply in the general body meeting and despite realising that the Bhutani did not have basic important approvals, they instead chose to take a legal opinion and not revoke the licence. The Panchayat should have ideally taken a legal opinion prior to issuing them the construction licence but they are hand in glove with the project proponent. The Bhutani in their reply have also alleged that some panch members are harassing them and even asking flf money ,bring a big shame to our Panchayat. I then decided to go on an indefinite hunger strike outside the Sancoale Panchayat which I started on Monday morning. I will not break ny hunger strike till the Sancoale Panchayat revokes the construction licence issued to Bhutani Infra ” said Naik
