PANAJI: In a decisive move to ensure public health and uphold food safety standards, the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) conducted rigorous inspections across Bardez and Pernem talukas in Goa. The inspections resulted in immediate action against several businesses involved in unhygienic practices and violations of food safety regulations.
Two snack manufacturing units and a bakery were ordered to shut down due to unsanitary conditions and non-compliance with food safety norms. Additionally, a restaurant in Parra was directed to suspend its operations pending further investigations.
One of the most significant findings during the inspections was the discovery of a fake FSSAI licensing case in Karaswada. The vendor in question was found to be operating with licenses procured through a Mumbai-based consultant. The authorities issued a stop notice to the vendor and instructed them to file a First Information Report (FIR) for fraudulent activities.
In a further show of commitment to food safety, penalties totaling Rs. 30,000 were imposed on three other vendors who were found to be violating various food safety regulations.
These actions by the FDA underscore the government’s strong stance on food safety and public health, reinforcing its commitment to ensuring that consumers are protected from unsafe and unhygienic food practices. The strict enforcement of food safety measures in Goa highlights the importance of maintaining high standards across the food industry.
The FDA has urged all food businesses in the region to strictly adhere to food safety protocols and obtain the necessary certifications to operate legally. The team emphasized that such proactive measures will continue across the state to safeguard public health.
For more updates, residents and businesses are encouraged to stay informed through official FDA communication channels.
