CANACONA – Calling the faithful to experience miracles in their day-to-day life, Rev. Fr. Santiago Fernandes said that Jesus Christ converted Cross, a symbol of shame, into a Holy Cross of devotion and worship.
Fr. Fernandes, Parish Priest of Anjuna Church, was delivering his homily concelebrating the feast-mass of Miraculous Holy Sta Cruz De Vall Cross at his native village of Agonda.
“As a child, I grew up visiting this Holy Cross and praying vehemently as all our Villagers did, seeking favours and paying gratitude. Just as our Jesus Christ did miracles, Our Christ, by his holy life and death on the Cross (which was. Symbol of Shame till then) has converted it into a symbol of Holiness by his sufferings and Resurrection. Believe in Jesus, walk in his steps, and each one of you will witness miracles daily in your life.’ on hearing testimonials of petitions received by the faithful on health, children and employment/jobs,” he said.
Agonda Church Parish Priest Fr Patrick Luis, Assistant Priest Fr Darrel Fernandes and Deacon Neville Fernandes concelebrated the annual Feast Mass held after a Tridium masses (Novenas held for 3 days) at the Holy Cross.
As many people seek blessings and favours, petitions were collected in a box during the Tridium Novenas and were burnt during the mass celebrations.
While the whole of Agonda Parish celebrated the annual Feast, Liturgical arrangements were made by Karashir-Moll A Ward, as hundreds of devotees also from elsewhere in the state attended the feast mass.
