PANAJI: Following demands from shack owners, the Department of Tourism issued a public notice announcing a reduction in the deck-bed fee by Rs 10,000 and garbage disposal fee by Rs 5,000.
The Department also extended the date for payment of fees by the beach shack owners to Nov 4,2022.
The decision was taken following representation from the Shack Owners Welfare Society (SOWS).
The Deck Bed and Umbrella fees for a maximum of 20 beds, which was earlier Rs 25,000, is now reduced to Rs 15,000, and the garbage collection and disposal fee, which was Rs 10,000 earlier, is reduced to Rs 5,000.
The Department has asked shack owners to pay the fees by the new deadline and warned that no further extension in the dates for remittance of the renewal fees will be entertained.
The other fees will remain as per the Tourism Shack Policy 2019 – 2022, which has been extended further for Tourist Season 2022-2023. The revised fee structure for the shack allottees is Rs 1,37,500 per shack in A stretch, Rs 1,10,000 in B stretch and Rs 77,000 for the 10% reserved category for both A & B stretches. Around 331 shacks have been given permission to set up along 33 beach stretches across Goa.
