PANAJI: A complaint has been filed seeking registration of an FIR against Rohidas L. Naik, Shrikrishna Haldankar, Tarak Arolkar, Charudatt Panjikar, Avinash Shirodkar and others over alleged financial and administrative irregularities in the Gomantak Bhandari Samaj.
The complaint, submitted to the police, alleges offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, including cheating, criminal breach of trust, criminal conspiracy, misrepresentation, misuse of the Gomantak Bhandari Samaj’s name, and irregularities in the collection and utilisation of donations. It seeks registration of an FIR and a detailed investigation into the allegations.
The complaint comes amid an ongoing dispute within the Samaj over its scholarship and felicitation programme.
Meanwhile, Government-appointed Administrator Sakaharam V. Naik has submitted a detailed reply to a legal notice issued in connection with the matter. In his response, Naik stated that he is committed to maintaining transparency and accountability in the affairs of the society and safeguarding the interests of its members.
He said he has placed the relevant facts on record and assured that all actions taken by the administration are in accordance with law and in the interest of the registered society.
The police are yet to take a decision on the request for registration of an FIR.
