CANACONA: In a quick action, firefighters were on their toes to ut off a raging fire across the Manohar Parrikar Canacona Bypass Road (MPCBR) at Talpona late Monday evening.
The firefighters took over one and a half hours to douse off the fire raging amidst the dry Grass and almost engulfing so cashew trees on the eastern side of MPCBR near Talpona bridge.
‘It Negate-Fire in Fire-fighters terminology, but had already dangerous threatening more damages’, informed a source from Canacona fire station.
Interestingly, Canacona PI Chandrakant Gawas informed the Fire Station, Canacona that there is some fire raging across the MPCBR near Talpona bridge. ‘ We received a call from Canacona PI at 19.05 and including the Leading Fire-Fighter Tulsidas Dessai, Fire-fighters V S Komarpant, Paresh Bhagat, and three new recruits rushed to the site with a fire tender driven by driver Sanjay Jadhav. We had to empty the entire fire tender to extinguish the fire that burnt much of the dry Grass and took an ugly turn in catching up with cashew trees, and completed the process by 20.25 hrs before returning to the barracks’, informed a firefighter.
Firefighters, however, suspect some unscrupulous elements, either sitting on the roadside and smoking, have thrown live migrate butt, eventually catching up dry Grass and the flames turning murkier.
