ANJUNA: Anjuna Police have registered a case against five unknown persons for allegedly assaulting, wrongfully confining and extorting money from a man at Siolim, besides damaging the property of his business partner.
According to the complaint lodged by Manav Rajeev Mehta, a resident of Mumbai who is presently residing at Villa No. 7, La Donaira, Siolim, the incident occurred on June 8 at around 12:09 p.m. at the gate of La Donaira Society, Siolim, Bardez.
The complainant alleged that five unknown accused persons, sharing a common object and forming an unlawful assembly, assaulted him with slaps, punches and kicks and threatened him. He further stated that the accused wrongfully confined him inside a security guard’s cabin, where they allegedly assaulted both him and the security guard.
The complaint further states that when the complainant’s business partner, Inderdeep Singh, arrived at the spot, he too was allegedly assaulted by the accused.
The accused are also alleged to have extorted ₹10,000 from the complainant by compelling him to transfer the amount through UPI. Additionally, they allegedly damaged the mobile phone and car of Inderdeep Singh, causing a loss estimated at ₹1.25 lakh.
Anjuna Police have registered the case, and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Saish Shetgaonkar.
