PANAJI: In a major action against the illegal transportation of livestock, Goa Police rescued five bulls that were allegedly being transported in violation of animal welfare regulations.
During the operation, police intercepted a vehicle suspected of carrying the animals unlawfully. On inspection, officials found the bulls being transported under conditions that allegedly breached prescribed transport norms and animal welfare guidelines.
The animals were rescued and shifted to a safe facility for proper care, while the vehicle used in the transportation was seized as part of the investigation.
Police have registered a case under the relevant provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and other applicable laws. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source, destination and purpose of the transport, as well as to identify all those involved in the alleged offence.
