VASCO: Five persons were arrested by Vasco Police after they were allegedly caught red-handed with suspected ganja during a raid conducted at New Vaddem in Vasco.
The accused have been identified as Sonu Kumar Mahale, Gaus Sayed and Akansh Vovoikar, all residents of New Vaddem, Hussain Shaikh of Jairam Nagar, Vasco, and Sachin Jaiswal of Fakir Galli, Vasco.
According to police, the action was initiated following a complaint lodged by PSI Nikhil Dessai of Vasco Police Station. During the raid, the accused were allegedly found in possession of 339 grams of dry greenish leaves, stems, flowering and fruiting parts of a plant emitting an intoxicating odour, suspected to be ganja. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth approximately ₹33,000.
The raid was carried out between 6.49 pm and 8.48 pm at New Vaddem, where the five accused were allegedly apprehended while in possession of the suspected narcotic substance.
Vasco Police have registered a case under Section 20(b)(ii)(A) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Suresh Velip of Vasco Police Station under the supervision of PI Vaibhav Naik and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
