PANAJI: Food safety authorities have intensified inspections across Zuarinagar, IDC Sancoale and Cortalim as part of an ongoing surveillance drive to ensure compliance with food safety standards and safeguard public health.
During the inspection, officials visited 10 establishments, including caterers, food manufacturers and distributors, to assess hygiene, sanitation and regulatory compliance.
A catering unit supplying food to industries in the Verna Industrial Estate was directed to stop operations after inspectors detected serious hygiene and sanitation deficiencies. The violations included improper food storage, absence of sanitary cards for food handlers, unsuitable attire worn by staff and inadequate waste management practices.
In a separate case, another food business was found operating without a valid FSSAI licence. The establishment was issued an unlicensed notice and directed to obtain the necessary registration without delay.
Authorities said surveillance and enforcement drives will continue across Goa to ensure food businesses comply with safety regulations and maintain hygienic practices in the interest of public health.
