PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that forces not only outside the State but across the world are working towards stopping tourism activities in the State, and he appealed to people to work against such forces.

He further said that Goa needs quality tourists and that we do not require those tourists who come down here and then bother Goans.
“Goa is known as the country’s tourism capital, and we Goans should work to maintain this status; there should be sustainable tourism, ” he added.
Sawant said that all the stakeholders must contribute to creating a tourist-friendly ecosystem and infrastructure.
“The tourism-oriented infrastructure can attract high-end tourists to Goa, thereby boosting the economy of the State,” said Sawant.
He further said that Government is working seriously to resume the mining industry in the State.
“The Government is very much committed to people for providing better infrastructure, education and other essential amenities to enhance the living standards of people,” he added.
Speaking on remarkable progress in the field of Education, Health and Infrastructure, CM said that, Government is marching ahead to shape Goa as an Achiever State by 2029.
“Swayampurna Goa initiative is in 2.0 version and effectively working to mobilize people for opting agricultural and other self-sustainable business activities,” he said.
