PANAJI: A Swedish national was arrested late Saturday night by the Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) of Goa Police for allegedly possessing narcotic substances and residing illegally in the country without valid travel documents.
The accused has been identified as Joel Emmanuel Carlstrom, 33 years old, holder of Swedish Passport No. AA5242010. He was residing at a rented apartment in Madhlawada, Arambol, Pernem, Goa, under the care of a local resident, Krishna Shridhar Gadekar.
As per the complaint filed by PSI Girish T. Padloskar of the ANC Police Station, the arrest was made at around 10:42 pm on June 14, 2025. Carlstrom was allegedly found in illegal possession of narcotic substances, leading to the registration of an offence under Crime No. 16/2025.
He has been booked under Sections 22(a), 22(b), 22(c) read with Section 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Further custodial interrogation revealed that the accused was staying in Goa without a valid visa, thereby violating Section 7(1)(3) of the Foreigners Order, 1948 and Section 14 of the Foreigners Act, 1946.
The case is currently under investigation by PSI Laximan Dessai.
