XELDEM: A woman sustained grievous injuries after her Hero Pleasure scooter allegedly collided with an auto-rickshaw at Bharat Wada, Nagar, Xeldem, Quepem, on October 17.
According to a state complaint lodged by ASI Nagesh Gaonkar of Quepem Police Station, the incident occurred before 1.46 pm when the accused rickshaw driver, Mahesh Naik, a resident of Avedem, Quepem, was allegedly driving from Bharatnagar towards Quepem.
The complaint states that the driver entered the main road from the internal Aryan Valley road and took a right turn without giving any indicator or signal and without taking proper care and caution. As a result, the Hero Pleasure scooter ridden by Amita Gauns Dessai, a resident of Xeldem, Quepem, allegedly collided with the rickshaw.
The rider fell onto the road and sustained grievous injuries.
The complaint further alleges that the rickshaw driver fled the accident spot without stopping to assist the injured woman or informing the police.
Further investigation is being conducted by ASI Nagesh Gaonkar of Quepem Police Station.
