ARLEM: A woman sustained grievous injuries in a road accident involving an Eicher truck and a TVS Scooty near Atithi Bar and Restaurant at Arlem, Salcete, on October 22.
According to a state complaint lodged by ASI Anant Gaonkar of Maina Curtorim Police Station, the accident occurred at around 2.13 pm when accused driver Mahammad Mirshad MK, a resident of Loutolim and a native of Karnataka, was driving an Eicher truck from Ponda towards Arlem.
Upon reaching near Atithi Bar and Restaurant, the driver allegedly drove in a rash and negligent manner and suddenly took a right turn without taking proper care and caution to enter the opposite lane, intending to reach a tyre puncture shop nearby.
During the manoeuvre, the truck allegedly hit a TVS Scooty travelling from Arlem towards Ponda. The rider, Vaishali Kudalkar, a resident of Manora, Raia, sustained grievous injuries in the collision.
Further investigation is being conducted by ASI Anant Gaonkar of Maina Curtorim Police Station.
