PORVORIM: Porvorim Police have arrested four persons in connection with an alleged assault on a Socorro resident, with the accused booked under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for attempted murder and criminal intimidation.
According to police, the case was registered following a complaint lodged by Ankush Sharma (24), a resident of Socorro, Porvorim, on June 21.
The complaint states that on June 18 at around 5 pm, accused Sourabh Narulkar, along with three others, allegedly assaulted Anand Patil (37), a resident of Socorro, at a garden near the Socorro Panchayat office. The accused allegedly abused, threatened and attacked Patil with fist blows and kicks to his face, head and other parts of the body, causing injuries.
Police said the accused also allegedly threatened the complainant with dire consequences. Preliminary investigation suggests that the motive behind the assault was previous enmity between Anand Patil and Sourabh Narulkar.
During the course of investigation, police identified and arrested three additional accused — Pranav Borkar (28) of Chimbel, Arjun Paryekar (18) of Chimbel, and Anish Borcar (21) of Chimbel.
All four accused were traced and placed under arrest on June 21 after following the guidelines laid down by the Hon’ble Supreme Court. They are presently lodged in the police lock-up.
