PANAJI: The second Health Working Group meeting under G20 India Presidency was inaugurated today. Dr Bharati Pawar, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Shripad Naik, Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Tourism and other important officials were present for the inaugural session.
Dr Bharati Pawar thanked all delegates for joining this meeting. She, in her inaugural speech, said that India’s G20 priorities focus on reform multilateralism that creates an accountable and representative forum suitable for the 21st century. She hoped that deliberation over the next two days would develop a minimum viable product common for managing future health emergencies, a network of R and D and manufacturing. Shri Shripad Naik welcomed all delegates to the meeting. He briefed that India received 1.8 million foreigners for medical tourism and India ranked 10th in Medical Tourism Index. He said that by promoting health and wellness tourism, we could create a more holistic global health architecture.
It will be held from 17th – 19th April 2023 in Goa. More than 180 delegates from 19 G20 member countries, ten invited states, and 22 International Organizations will participate in the meeting.
