CANACONA: Gaondongrim Gramsabha has recently resolved to boycott Lok Sabha elections if material purchased under Watershed Scheme’ of central government (Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana) is not distributed to the village Anganwadis before the elections.
Addressing media, Gaondongrim Sarpanch Yeshwant alias Dhillon Dessai informed that the several resolutions were passed in the last gramsabha (Sunday), and on the same day, a most important resolution is passed to boycott the upcoming Lok Sabha elections . ‘Under the Watershed scheme of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana out of 7 panchayat’s in Canacona Water-shed Scheme is approved only for one Gaondongrim panchayat.
It’s Chairman is Chief Minister, and the Agency finalised under this scheme certain works to be executed under this scheme are fixed. Sarpanch of the village is appointed as the Chairman of this committee in the first meeting held and one Officer from Agriculture Office is nominated.
Nearly about 15 lakhs came to our account, and during that time it was decided to purchase Steel Cupboard, Chairs, Tables and Sound system to each of the 11 Anganwadis in the Gaondongrim village’.
Dessai informed that all this material was purchased (Agriculture Dept has to order it and Panchcyat had to pay the amount) by expending around 10 lakhs.
Till today this material brought to distribute to the Angawadi’s is gathering dust in the office of Agriculture in Canacona. We are told that some of this material is also lying the resident of one of the Agriculture Officer. When we asked, why it is kept at his resident, the officer keeps mum and do not answer.’During the discussion on Agriculture Policy held in Canacona ,. I had raised this issue and questioned why the material is kept idle and not distributed to the Anganwadi’s for which hit was bought, But I was assured that in two days a solution would be found, but now its over a months since the Agriculture meeting.
During our last gramsabha meeting, this issue came and people asked why is pending and hat Panchayat have done and doing about it. I informed We even approached Director and asked why it is kept pending, but he too keeps on saying it is done in two days. ‘Now we, the people of Gaondongrim has taken a resolution in the gramsabha that if the purchased material is not given for utilization, we will boycott the central government elections, means Lok Sabha Elections, and this resolution is passed unanimously. No one objected.’
As for other projects we don’t have any problems, as we gets all the developmental works approved by the government, and presently Gaondongrim panchcyat is executing 50 lakhs worth Market Complex and it has reached a slab level, besides another 40-50 lakhs works under 14th and 15th Finance are underway. And even tender processing on way. We don’t have problems with any other Government works, but this type of harassment should not take place’.
