PANAJI: Governor, P.S. Sreedharan Pillai inaugurated the programme of “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav “on Women Empowerment through Skill Development on International Women Day Organised by Dattopant Thengadi National Board for Worker Education and Development (DTNBWED) (Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India) Regional Directorate Goa at Institute Menezes Braganza (IMB), Panaji today.
Chairman of the IMB, Shri Dasharath Parab; Chairman of the DTNBWED, Shri Gadge and Regional Director I/c Smt. Aruna Wagh were also present on occasion.
The Governor asserting that gender equality is one of the most appreciated aspects of our constitution, said our country treats both men and women equally.
The constitution ensures that everyone receives equal justice. Goa has a civil code that applies to everyone, regardless of caste, creed or other factors. The Governor complimented the people of Goa for recognising and supporting for implementation of Article 44 of the Constitution in the State of Goa, giving equal rights to women and men.
Governor paid honour to Shri Dattopant Thenadi and said, “He dedicated his entire life for the betterment of this nation. He is the founder of the largest popular trade union and fought to strengthen society throughout his life.
“The Governor maintaining that Indian education is the best system said people from all over the world come to India for education. Materialistic life, for example, is necessary, but spiritual life, which protects our traditions and so on, is also essential.
The Governor said that we must pay special attention to the weaker sections of society, particularly women. Required training, proper guidance and assistance, as well as financial assistance can all contribute to supporting the weaker sections of the society.
India is always is a skilled country. That’s why our education system has maximum skill development education. The Government is making all efforts to achieve a self-reliant India, Self Reliant Goa and definitely will lead the 21st century.
On occasion, the revival of the traditional skills (Kapyalle aajis godhadi) competition was announced and the First Lady of Goa Advocate Smt. Reetha Sreedharan distributed the forms to 6 talukas Incharge i.e Smr.Meena H.Naik Goltekar, Project Director, DRDA; Smt.Vaishnavi Mahesh Parab, Bardez Block Coordinator; Smt.Sanjivani Parab, Pernem Block Coordinator; Smt.Kiran Parvatkar, Tiswadi Block coordinator; Smt. Pratiksha Chanankar, Bicholim Block Coordinator and Smt.Shilpa Honnawarkar, South Goa Ponda Block Coordinator.
