PANAJI: The Goa Cabinet on Wednesday approved a slew of development and welfare initiatives, including a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) for infrastructure projects, the launch of a new scheme offering free ITI education to girls, and the implementation of a rural employment mission aimed at generating jobs in villages.
Addressing a press conference after the Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant said the government has approved an MoU with Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) to undertake key infrastructure projects across the state. He said the partnership is expected to accelerate infrastructure development and strengthen connectivity in Goa.
The Cabinet also approved the launch of the Mukhyamantri Sukanya Kaushal Vikas Protsahan Yojana, under which the Goa Government will bear 100 per cent of the tuition fees for girls taking admission to Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). The Chief Minister said the initiative is aimed at encouraging more girls to pursue vocational education, enhancing their skills and improving employment opportunities.
In another major decision, Sawant announced that the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) has been implemented in Goa with effect from July 1. The scheme seeks to create employment opportunities in rural areas, with beneficiaries to receive wages as per the legally notified minimum wage rates.
The Chief Minister said the decisions reflect the government’s focus on strengthening infrastructure, promoting skill development among women and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities in rural Goa. He added that these initiatives are expected to contribute significantly to the state’s overall development and inclusive growth.
