PANAJI: Goa Tourism today announced the dates for the Carnival to be held across 4 cities of Goa from February 18.
“Carnival will be held in Goa at Panaji, Margao, Vasco and Mapusa. The Dates are February 18, 19, 20 and 21. Porvorim and Morjim have been additionally added to the list,” said GTDC Managing Director Nikhil Desai
He further said that emphasis will be given to good quality floats, and we should keep the quality of Carnival floats from going down.
“The committees have been given the charge to financial the routes of the Carnival in their respective cities, and the government of Goa will support them in terms of infrastructure and other amenities,” he added.
He said that most committees have told Goa Tourism that they will stick to their traditional routes.
Speaking in Shigmotsav, Desai said that the first parade will be held on March 8, starting from Ponda.
“There will be 17 major and minor centres. We have reviewed the routes and asked the committees to coordinate with the police department,” he added.
The GTDC MD said that Shigmo Parade will not be allowed to extend after 10 pm following the High Court’s directs on sound pollution.
“We will ensure that parades will not cross beyond 10 pm,” he added.
