PORVORIM: Opposition MLAs on Tuesday demanded to pull down hoardings of illegal casinos and illegal online gaming, claiming it is the best solution to curb the menace.
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai raised questions about illegal casinos in the villages of Goa. Sardesai said that advertisements of these illegal businesses should be stopped.
He demanded details of all actions taken against illegal casino operations and slot machines in the state over the last two years, along with copies of any complaints received regarding these illegal casinos.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant assured that hoardings that advertise casinos directly will not be allowed Cases will be filed against these illegal hoardings, and action will be taken.
“The government is in the process of forming an advertisement policy, and once completed, we can curb all such illegal advertisements,” said Sawant.
Sawant said that the pending amount from casinos will be recovered within one year. We faced problems as a few cases went to court. CM also assured that all the small-scale illegal casinos will be stopped.
“I will fast track cases in High Court against govt order for recovery of fees/payment from land casinos, we will recover all pending payments within a year,” CM informed the House.
AAP MLA Venzy Viegas said Ghadghodo is local gambling which also needs to be stopped, it should stop across the state, it has destroyed the families and creates problems among the families:
“In my constituency to some extent illegal gambling is stopped with the help of the home department, for us our youths are important than revenue,” said MLA Altone D’Costa.
