Panaji: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant reiterating their commitment to the welfare of workers said that exploitation of workers would not be allowed and added that they shouldn’t come on the road to get their issues resolved but can have proper dialogue for which the doors of the Government are always open.
The Chief Minister Dr Sawant was speaking at the Vishwakarma Jayanti function organized by the Office of the Commissioner, Labour & Employment at Patto Panaji today. The Chief Minister also conferred the Vishwakarma Adarsh Kamgar Award 2024 on the occasion.
The Chief Minister further said the worker class from the unorganized sector were not considered in terms of development earlier and will be recognized hereafter and any issues with regards to their welfare would be addressed.
Emphasizing the intention of the Government to create a work culture, the Chief Minister said that the Government lays thrust on creating skilled manpower. In order to accomplish this objective, the Government has implemented some schemes, financial assistance for the upgradation of education and home loans with low interest for employees from the private sector.
The recipients of the Vishwakarma Adarsh Kamgar Award 2024 were also complimented by the Chief Minister.
Minister for Labour & Employment Atanasio Monserrate while highlighting the significance of Vishwakarma Jayanti, said that we are not just celebrating, but paying tribute to the tireless efforts and remarkable contributions of our workers, who are the true architects of our State’s progress and prosperity.
We are taking significant steps towards empowering our workforce and the youth of our State. I am delighted to announce that, at the hands of our Chief Minister, we will be launching two crucial initiatives – the introduction of a new channel of communication and support for the youth of our State—the launch of a WhatsApp group and a dedicated WhatsApp number. This initiative is designed to provide our youths and job seekers with direct access to information and upcoming activity updates. It will serve as a platform where they can stay informed about the various Employment activities available to them.
The Minister further said that this initiative is a reflection of our commitment to not only support our current workforce but also to invest in the future generation of workers and leaders.
As we launch these initiatives, let us remember that our true strength lies in the hands of our workers, artisans, and craftsmen. It is through their skills, creativity, and dedication that our State continues to thrive, he added.
The Minister extending his warm greetings on this auspicious occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti urged all to reaffirm our commitment to their welfare, to fostering an environment where their hard work is recognized and to ensure that every worker has the opportunity to discharge their responsibilities to their full potential.
