SANKHALI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant reiterated the State government’s commitment to making women in rural Goa self-reliant and self-sufficient. He was speaking at an event held at Ravindra Bhavan, Sanquelim, where 150 women were presented with sewing machines after completing training in tailoring.
The initiative, conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment under its women empowerment programme, aims to equip women with skills for sustainable livelihoods. Sawant noted that since 2016, various training sessions have been held across the State to support women’s development.
He announced that approximately 1,450 women across Goa will benefit from the scheme, with further distributions planned in other talukas.
The event was also attended by Dr Levinson Martins, Sanquelim Municipal Council Chairperson Siddhi Prabhu, Anand Kanekar, Vijay Kumar Natekar, and other dignitaries.
