Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has expressed concern over rising drowning incidents in Goa, especially involving children and tourists at unsafe water bodies.
He urged parents to ensure strict supervision of children and avoid visiting restricted or “No Swimming Zone” areas marked by authorities.
The Chief Minister also urged parents to be vigilant and strictly prevent children from visiting unsafe water bodies like streams and rivers. He said he feels deeply saddened whenever such drowning deaths are reported, stressing that parental responsibility is crucial in avoiding such tragedies.
Sawant said the government has installed warning boards and taken safety measures, but public awareness and responsibility are equally important to prevent such incidents.
He appealed to citizens and tourists to follow safety guidelines and avoid risky swimming spots, stating that awareness and discipline can save lives.
