DELHI: In order to discuss giving Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities reservation in the State Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and a delegation of leaders from ST communities visited Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday in New Delhi.
Sawant made the following statement on X, formerly Twitter: “Called on Hon’ble HM Shri Amit Shah Ji,…I express my sincere gratitude to the Honorable HM for guaranteeing a prompt resolution.
President of the BJP Goa, Sadanand Seth Tanavade. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Minister Govind Gawde, MLAs Ganesh Gainkar and Antonio Vas, and a delegation of leaders from the Scheduled Tribes to advocate for the reservation of seats in Goa for them.

Shah has promised to find a solution, and a commission to draw boundaries will be established. The assignment has been given to the Indian Election Commission, Sawant stated.
Sawant has met Shah about the matter twice in the last week. A last-minute change in the Union home minister’s schedule prevented leaders of the ST community from meeting with him on Sunday.
The delegation asked that the issue of assembly seat reservations for the ST population be expedited during Friday’s meeting.
Goa requested last week that the Center form a delimitation commission to designate four state assembly constituencies as community-reserved. Arjun Munda, the minister of tribal affairs, was met by a delegation headed by Sawant, which also included the law minister Alexio Sequeira, Tawadkar, Gaude, and Cortalim MLA Anton Vas.
