VAGHURME: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Friday visited Shree Shantadurga Temple in Vaghurme on the occasion of the annual kalotsav.
Speaking to Goemkarponn, CM said he prayed to the goddess asking to shield Goa from a new variant of coronavirus and to protect the World from new infection surge by taming the pandemic.
Offering greetings of kalotsav to the villagers, CM said he visited this temple after a really long time and is happy to take blessings from goddess Shantadurga.
Praising villagers for prioritising eco-friendly decorations over unsustainable materials, CM said, “Goa is well known for its nature and ‘swayampurna’ behaviour. Villages and temples of Goa are a symbol of self-sufficiency, and so is the temple of Shantadurga, which is decorated with environment-friendly decor materials”.
Congratulating the youths of the village for this initiative, CM said, “I congratulate the youths of Vaghurme for preferring ro use environmentally friendly materials over others. Villagers of Vaghurme have set the morale by decorating the temple with eco-friendly horticulture products such as a wide variety of fruits, flowers, vegetables and herbs and leaves. By doing this, the villagers have opted to celebrate the festival in its truest form”. People across the State should learn from them, added CM.
