Panaji: Pramod Sawant on Monday paid tributes to B. R. Ambedkar on his 135th birth anniversary at a function held at Dr. Ambedkar Park.
The programme was organised by the Directorate of Social Welfare in collaboration with the Goa State Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister virtually laid the foundation stone for ‘Ambedkar Bhavan’ at Porvorim, stating that the facility would be completed within a year and dedicated to the public on the next Ambedkar Jayanti.
Extending his greetings on the occasion, Sawant reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the ideals of Dr Ambedkar, highlighting his emphasis on education as a key instrument of empowerment.
He also felicitated meritorious students and encouraged them to aim higher, compete in national-level examinations such as NEET and JEE, and make full use of available scholarship schemes.
Sawant further said that the state government remains committed to ensuring that welfare schemes reach all sections of society.
