PANAJI: Goa Congress has expelled Shamila Siddiqui and Manisha Usgaonkar from the party for six years following the recommendations of its disciplinary committee over alleged indiscipline.
The action comes after the party initiated disciplinary proceedings against the two leaders. Congress leader said the issue was discussed in detail during a party meeting, where concerns were raised over internal discipline and social media posts allegedly targeting the Congress party.
According to the party, the disciplinary committee conducted an enquiry into the matter and both Siddiqui and Usgaonkar were given an opportunity to present their side before the committee arrived at its recommendation.
Based on the committee’s findings, the Goa Congress decided to expel both leaders from the party for a period of six years.
Congress reiterated that the Congress leadership would not tolerate indiscipline within the organisation and said the party remains committed to maintaining discipline among its members.
