PANAJI: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar on Thursday announced that the Congress will intensify its statewide agitation over the alleged examination scam, with protests planned across districts and blocks, asserting that the party will continue its movement until justice is delivered to students.
Addressing the media, Chodankar accused the BJP government of attempting to silence students and youth activists through intimidation, detentions and the alleged misuse of the police machinery. He said such actions had only strengthened the Congress’ resolve to fight for transparency and accountability in the examination system.
“Every attempt by the BJP to suppress the democratic voice of students has only made our determination stronger. The Goa Congress stands firmly with every student whose future has been jeopardised by repeated examination irregularities. We will not be intimidated, and we will not retreat,” he said.
Launching a scathing attack on the government, Chodankar alleged that public relations campaigns, social media outreach and assurances could not erase years of examination controversies or shift attention from the demand for accountability.
He announced that the Congress would take the agitation to every district, constituency and block in Goa, describing it as a sustained movement rather than a symbolic protest.
“This is not a symbolic protest. This is a sustained movement for justice. We will continue this struggle for as long as it takes, standing shoulder to shoulder with students until accountability is fixed,” he said.
The GPCC President reiterated the party’s key demands, including the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, a comprehensive discussion in Parliament on the alleged examination scam and systemic failures, and the immediate withdrawal of FIRs and legal proceedings against students and youth who participated in peaceful protests.
Chodankar said the Congress would continue its campaign until students receive justice, those responsible are held accountable, and a transparent and credible examination system is restored.
