PANAJI: Environment Minister Nilesh Cabral said that the Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) 2019 will be ready by next year.
“Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) 2019 will be ready by next year. It will not experience an unanticipated delay like the previous plan did,” said Cabral.
He further said that in the minutes of its meetings, the NCZMA has noted a few things and they have not received any explicit instructions from it specifying that we cannot approve new structures until CMZP 2019 is prepared.
“Until the new plan is ready, clearances will be given in accordance with CZMP 2011,” Cabral said
Minister said that NCZMA had mentioned in one of its meetings that, in accordance with the CRZ Notification, 2011, no state should consider new projects for clearance if its CZMP 2019 was not yet complete.
The Goa government recently requested a six-month extension from the National Green Tribunal in order to have more time to finish the Goa Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP).
The plan was originally scheduled to be finished in 2014, but the NGT had earlier given the state until August 31 to finish it.
“The GCZMA received approximately 3493 objections and suggestions for North Goa and approximately 4016 for South Goa in response to the notice of public hearing and following the public hearing,” officials said.
