In an unexpected statement, the Director General of Police (DGP) Mukesh Kumar Meena today extended support to the railway double tracking project claiming that it is in national interest.
“These projects are for the nation’s development. In other States, people demonstrate or agitate demanding widening of railway tracking or four-laning and six-laning,” Meena said addressing a press conference.
Kumar said that both the State and Central government are concerned about development of the entire nation and hence I request people to see these in national interest.
DGP claimed that double tracking will benefit to bring in more tourists as well as help local passenger travel.
Meena said that the police will provide security to the agencies which are implementing these projects so that they are not stopped by the protestors.
He also warned to take action against all those people who are obstructing these projects.
“The Government of India must have done proper study before implementing these projects,” he said.
