PANAJI: The Goa Government has extended its scheme providing a 2% reservation in government jobs for the children of registered freedom fighters, ensuring the benefits continue for another year.
According to a notification issued by the Department of Home (General), the reservation under Clause 3(c) will remain applicable for Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ posts filled through the Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) from March 1, 2026, to February 28, 2027.
The government has also stated that the scheme will remain in force until February 28, 2027, or until the last of the 79 registered children of freedom fighters with the Home Department is sponsored for employment, whichever is earlier.
The reservation is implemented through roster points and is intended to provide employment opportunities to eligible children of registered freedom fighters.
The scheme was originally introduced following the announcement made in the Goa Budget for 2013–14 to recognise the contribution of freedom fighters by extending employment benefits to their children.
The Home Department said the extension reflects the government’s commitment to continuing the welfare measure for eligible beneficiaries registered with the department.
