PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today announced that the government jointly with Church will soon be launching a web portal for smooth facilitation of pilgrim registration and other issue.
CM Sawant along with Minister Mauvin Godinho and Church officials attended the meeting about preparations for the forthcoming 45-day SFX Exposition at Old Goa.
“Government jointly with Church will soon be launching a web portal for smooth facilitation of pilgrim registration and other issue, As of now, the cost has crossed RS 200 cr,” said Sawant.
Sawant further informed that he has requested the Prime Minister to invite the Pope to attend the sacred relics of SFX and a formal invitation will be sent through the Union government.
“There is confirmation but I am very much hopeful that Pope visit Goa to attend the event. I have written to the Prime Minister and invitation should go from the Union government,” Sawant said.
He said that this is one of the biggest event of the country with international and national guests scheduled to arrive.
Sawant said that issues related to national and international VVIP guest lists, infrastructure upgrades, overall arrangements etc were discussed during the meeting.
He informed that being the international event, the Goa government has asked for Rs 300 crore from the Centre for the Exposition which is held once in 10 years.
The CM said that during the discussion, the Church heads made some suggestions to authorities such as to make changes in the surrounding and reduce congestion caused due to fair.organised on the sidelines of the event.
The chief minister said that the prominent guests including Archbishops from other regions would be attending the event for whom the arrangements would have to be made.
