VASCO: Congress leader Captain Viriato on Thursday accused the Government of attempting to strangulate Goan Farmers in financial debts by not clearing the subsidies for the last two crops.
Fernandes speaking to reports in Vasco said that there could be a conspiracy to hand over farmlands to real estate lobby
“Goa Government is going all over to state that they will go all out to help farmers and even the double engine Government at the centre led by PM Narendra Modi had made big promises that the income of farmers will be doubled by 2022,” said Variato
He further said that these are all blatant lies because we have got news that over 5000 Farmers have not received their subsidies for the last two crops.
“We know what are the real intentions of the Government and the conspiracy behind this move . The Government in the last two to three assembly sessions are trying to bring ammendments to the TCP Laws to help the rich people with black money to convert agriculture lands and orchard lands to settlement and commercial,” he added
Capt said that the the Government is strangulating the farmers by not paying their subsidies so as to keep them in debt which subsequently means that they will not be able to cultivate the farmlands.
“The farmers who have taken loans from the banks will have to give up their land and forced to sell their land. This is how the double engine Goa Government will succeed in snatching away agricultural lands with the Goans and give it to the real estate lobby which is the big conspiracy ” said Fernandes
