PANAJI: A real estate developer’s advertisement was deemed “objectionable” and “obnoxious” by the Goa administration, which further claimed that it “hurt the sentiments of the Goan people.”
Goa’s Home Department ordered in a letter filed on Thursday to the real estate company The House of Abhinandan Lodha that the listing for a real estate.
The House of Abhinandan Lodha’s parent firm, Lodha Ventures, expressed regret for the “hurt caused to the sentiments of the people of Goa”. It stated that the advertisement had been taken down after appearing on the website of one of its channel partners.
Referring to the advertisement’s caption, the Home Department wrote a notice to the group on Thursday, stating that it had injured the sensibilities of Goans with its very unpleasant and irritating statement.
As a result, you are required to remove the aforementioned contentious advertisement right away and report compliance; if you don’t, you and your agency will face legal repercussions.
Regarding the advertisement, the Chief Minister’s Office has already written a letter to the Home Department.
“Very offensive statements like ‘Conquer Goa’ can be found in the advertisement. In just 36 hours, Goa’s 450 years of Portuguese sovereignty came to an end in 1961 when Portugal gave the area up to the Indian armed forces.
Proud citizens of independent Goa often feel wounded by such offensive assertions of capturing the state. According to the CMO letter, “The Home Department may issue an immediate warning and order the group to remove such contentious advertisements.”
