PANAJI: Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar today said the state government is contemplating having a Hydrogen Mission Policy for Goa .
Dhavalikar was addressing the gathering at CII Goa Conference on Clean, renewable energy.
“Prime Minister had the vision to make grey, blue and green hydrogen policy all over India and based on that we decided to establish our policy in Goa,” said Dhavalikar.
He further said that the abandoned mining pits from the state would be used to generate hydropower for electricity and solar power.
“Henceforth, abandoned mining pits from the state will be used to generate hydropower for electricity and solar power. Those mining pits 120 meter deep and filled with water will be used with this new technology to develop hydropower energy,”
Sudin said that water from these pits could be recycled, and hydro power can be generated.
“Government has initiated various schemes for industries encouraging renewable energy. We have amended solar policy,” the minister said.
He also said that government would come up with the Green Hydrogen mission policy to make the mission a success in the State.
In yet another move aimed at green energy, the power minister said the government would unveil the Solar Policy in the ensuing session of the Goa Legislative Assembly.
While declining to dish out details on the solar policy, Dhavalikar said the State had envisaged generation of 150 Megawatt of power through solar energy.
