PORVORIM: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant chaired a coordination meeting of stakeholder departments to review the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan – 3-Year Road Map (2026–2029) aimed at strengthening Goa’s fight against narcotics through a coordinated, whole-of-government approach.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister reviewed the measures taken by enforcement agencies and directed all stakeholder departments to intensify surveillance against drug-related activities across the state.
Dr. Sawant said the government has resolved to identify and support NGOs working in the rehabilitation of drug addicts. He also announced plans to expand government de-addiction facilities at the OPD level in both North and South Goa and introduce mobile units for drug awareness, counselling, and rehabilitation.
He said the Education and Social Welfare Departments have been entrusted with strengthening awareness campaigns, while the Health Department will further enhance rehabilitation and treatment services.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to a drug-free state, the Chief Minister said Goa will work towards achieving the vision of Union Home Minister Amit Shah of a Nasha Mukt Bharat and Nasha Mukt Goa through a combination of strict enforcement, prevention, public awareness, and compassionate rehabilitation.
