PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that his government will revive all primary government schools with students enrollment of 4 students and above.
CM Sawant was addressing the press conference at Mantralaya.
“Government will revive primary schools with students enrollment of 4 and above. Nil enrollment resulted in closure of several primary schools,” said Sawant
The current academic year has seen the closure of seven Government primary schools because of low enrolment.
Based on data from the Education Department, all four of Bicholim’s and all three of Ponda’s elementary schools will be closed for the 2024–25 school year because of low enrollment.
81 proposals for the opening of new primary and secondary schools in the English language were turned down by the government this year.
Based on the information presented to the Goa legislature in the July 2024 monsoon session, 42 government elementary schools are in danger of closing because they have no students enrolled for the current school year.
Furthermore, there are roughly 400 schools with five or fewer students enrolled in Classes I through IV.
