PANAJI: In a decisive move, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has relieved senior IAS officer Prasad Lolayekar from his duties in Goa with immediate effect, instructing him to promptly report to his new posting in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
This directive follows closely on the heels of a similar order issued to IAS officer Sanjit Rodrigues, who was transferred to Ladakh but has yet to assume charge. Both officers were moved in a reshuffle in September 2024, yet neither has reported to their new assignments.
The MHA has reiterated its policy that officers must join their new postings within 15 days of the effective date or risk being automatically considered “stand relieved.” The ministry has warned that any delay beyond this window may attract disciplinary action, including debarment from future promotions and other service-related penalties.
The latest developments are part of a broader administrative reshuffle in the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territories) cadre, which saw six IAS officers transferred from Goa and five others posted to the state. The MHA’s firm approach signals a renewed emphasis on discipline, timely compliance, and accountability among senior civil servants across the Union Territories.
