MARGAO: In a swift and coordinated operation, the Konkan Railway Police of Goa apprehended a man wanted in a murder case registered in Karnataka within a short span after receiving specific intelligence about his movement.
According to police, at around 7:00 pm on June 10, information was received from Karwar that an accused identified as Prashant, wanted in Crime No. 82/2026 registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Panampur Police Station, Mangaluru, Karnataka, was likely travelling to Goa on Train No. 22655 Hazrat Nizamuddin Express.
Acting on the information and under the direction of PI Vikram Naik of Konkan Railway Police Station, a special team comprising PSI Jitendra Gaude, PC Vasim Shaikh, PC Manjunath Dodamani and PC Sanjay Gaonkar was deployed at various points at Margao Railway Station.
Using CCTV surveillance, technical analysis and intelligence inputs, the police successfully identified and apprehended the suspect. During interrogation, he disclosed his identity as Prashant Kumar, 36, son of Narsh Bhandari and a resident of Shivaji Nagar, Darbhanga, Bihar.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of PI Vikram Naik and DySP Hiru Kavlekar, with overall supervision by SP Shekhar Prabhudessai of Konkan Railway Police.
Police have informed Mohammad Saleem, Police Inspector of Panampur Police Station, Mangaluru, who is investigating the murder case, for further legal procedures. The accused is presently in the custody of the Konkan Railway Police Station, Goa. :::
