ANJUNA: Anjuna police have arrested 02 persons for Assault on a Maharashtra tourist after a petty road rage incident.
As per SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi, on Tuesday night, a distress call was received from Police Control Room informing that a fight was going on near Anjuna Petrol Pump.
Accordingly, a team led by PI Prashal Dessai, along with a staff of Anjuna Police Station, visited the site immediately and found that one tourist hailing from Maharashtra was injured, and the car was found damaged; the injured was immediately shifted to District Hospital Mapusa.
SDPO Jivba Dalvi immediately visited District Hospital, Mapusa, at midnight and personally spoke to the injured person. Inspector General of Police Shri Omvir Singh, IPS, made a video Call on his mobile phone and inquired about the injured tourist personally and asked about the well being.
Further, immediately an FIR u/s 341,352,504,427,308 r/w 34 IPC was registered upon the complaint of one of the friends of the injured person, wherein the complainant stated that two unknown accused persons came on a blue coloured Pulsar Motor Cycle bearing No. GA-03-AK-5856 and wrongfully restrained the complainant, the injured, namely Omkar Upwane r/o Kalyan, Mumbai and thereafter, both accused persons assaulted the complaint with stones and cement bricks over the head, thereby causing serious injuries on the head of the injured person and attempted to commit culpable homicide and further damaged the car of the complainant.
The motive behind the attack was that the complainant overtook the motorcycle of the accused persons, to which the accused rider and co-rider got annoyed and, after that, assaulted them.
Anjuna Police Station examined the area’s CCTV footage, collected local intelligence, and zeroed down on two suspects, namely 1. Viraj s/o Deepak Parsekar, age 25 yrs r/o Khairat Camurlim Bardez Goa and 2. Siddhant s/o Shripad Khorjuvekar, age 29 yrs r/o Vagalim Camurlim Bardez Goa. Another team was formed headed by Police Sub Inspector and staff, and within two hours of the incident, accused persons were nabbed and lodged in Police Lock-up. Both accused persons were produced before JMFC, Mapusa, and the honourable Court remanded them to 03 days of Police Custody.
