PANAJI: Goa Police have intensified their crackdown on illegal activities, conducting multiple operations that led to the busting of an illegal petrol storage facility, the dismantling of a prostitution racket and the arrest of a man allegedly found in possession of suspected chemical drugs.
Addressing the media, Superintendent of Police (SP) Jivba Dalvi said police raided an illegal petrol storage facility at Zuarinagar on Thursday. During the operation, officers also unearthed a prostitution racket operating in the area.
Dalvi said the investigation is continuing and additional cases are likely to be registered as police gather further evidence and identify others who may be involved.
In a separate operation, police arrested 29-year-old local resident Rameshwar Dhargalkar for allegedly possessing suspected chemical drugs.
According to the police, 8 grams of the suspected contraband, estimated to be worth around ₹1.28 lakh in the illicit market, were seized from his possession.
The seized substance has been sent for forensic examination, and further investigation is underway to ascertain its source and whether the accused has links to a wider drug network.
