CUNCOLIM: Cuncolim police have registered a case against miscreants for manghandling a villager and vandalising Janmashtami posters at Rangalim, Velim.
One Pramod Zuvekar, president of Nav Yuvak Sang Trust, Rangalim- Velim had filed a complain that Congress supporters manhandled committee member.
“The committee members were putting the banner on the arc one Lavu Kerkar alongwith two of his other brothers Ankush kerkar and Vasudev Kerkar appeared at the spot and pushed away the ladder and further started arguing with us over the installation of the banner,” the complainant said.
He further said since he was the president he intervened and tried to pacify them saying that they were installing the said banner with due permission for the religious festival in village temple and there is nothing personal into this.
“However Lavu Kerkar who appeared to be under influence of alcohol along with his two brothers ie Ankush and Vasudev were in no listening mood and further became furious and came to assault me but in the meantime said Vasudev intervened and stopped him,” said Zuyekar.
Further, he said, Lavu in his aggression went ahead and tore the said banners.
“The brothers tore banners depicting picture of our god Shree Krishna hurting religious sentiments hence as a president would like lodge a complaint against the above persons and ask for immediately book them under FIR and strict necessary action.
BJP leader Savio Rodrigues, speaking on the development said “Grateful to DySP South Goa and PI of Cuncolim PS for registering an FIR against miscreants who tore our Gopal Janmashtami posters and manhandled one of our villagers at Rangalim, Velim.
The drunk miscreants are supporters of Congress and in unwarranted manner attempted to hurt the religious sentiments of our people. BJP Velim Mandal and our villagers took a strong objection to this behaviour.”
