CALANGUTE: Continuing its crackdown on drug trafficking, the Goa Police’s Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) arrested a 43-year-old man and seized 8.6 grams of suspected Ecstasy powder worth approximately ₹86,000 during a raid conducted at Agar Waddo, Calangute, in the early hours of July 27.
Acting on specific and reliable information, the raid was carried out opposite Fat Fish Restaurant by PSI Dindayal S. Redkar and the staff of the Anti-Narcotic Police Station under the directions of PI Sagun Sawant and the supervision of Nerlon Albuquerque, Superintendent of Police holding additional charge of Deputy Superintendent of Police, ANC. The operation was conducted under the overall guidance of Sunita Sawant, Superintendent of Police, ANC.
The accused, identified as Sagar Morajkar (43) of Naika Waddo, Calangute, was allegedly found in possession of 8.6 grams of suspected Ecstasy powder. Police also seized ₹1,000 in cash and the scooter bearing registration number GA-03-BA-9801 under a search and seizure panchanama.
A subsequent search of the accused’s residence at Naika Waddo led to the seizure of an additional ₹10,000 in cash, which was attached under a separate panchanama.
The ANC has registered Crime No. 16/2026 under Section 22(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
The accused was produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Mapusa, who remanded him to seven days of police custody for further investigation.
