PANAJI: Goa recorded 242 road accidents during May 2026, including 22 fatal accidents, according to the monthly report released by the Directorate of Transport.
The report states that of the 242 accidents, 22 were fatal (15 in North Goa and 7 in South Goa), 35 were grievous accidents (20 in North Goa and 15 in South Goa), 37 were minor accidents (15 in North Goa and 22 in South Goa), while 148 were non-injury accidents (71 in North Goa and 77 in South Goa).
A total of 22 people lost their lives in road accidents during the month. Additionally, 45 people sustained grievous injuries (22 in North Goa and 23 in South Goa), while 87 persons suffered minor injuries (42 in North Goa and 45 in South Goa).
Among the deceased were 11 riders, one pillion rider, seven pedestrians, and one passenger, highlighting the vulnerability of two-wheeler users and pedestrians on Goa’s roads.
The statistics were released as part of the Directorate of Transport’s monthly road accident report for May 2026.
