Health Minister Vishwajit Rane today said that the government is spending much more on the COVID19 patient then what the private hospitals would charge.
The Health Minister said that the Goa and Kerala are the only states, who are spending heavily on COVID19 patients.
“We are giving the costliest of treatment available to save lives of our citizens and not a single naya paisa is being charged to the person. Besides this there is no differentiation between the VIPs and the common man,” he said.
Despite all the efforts, Rane said there is increase in mortalities as there is delay in referring the patients to hospitals.
“Plasma and Remdesivir combination can save lives but that has to be administered at an early stage and not after patient lungs have been infected,” he said.
He said that though co-morbid deaths are a major concern and cause of concern. “Our experts are treating the co-morbidities and despite that there are deaths,” he said.
He said that the 37 deliveries have taken place in ESI hospital besides critical surgeries.
GMC Dean Dr S Bandekar says that around 44 patients are critically critical in GMC and ESI hospital.
He said that the death rate has been the lowest in the country even as 88 patients in GMC and 115 in ESI hospital have succumbed to the virus.
