PORVORIM: The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) announced the Class X (SSC) results for 2026 on Sunday, with the state recording an overall pass percentage of 94.51 per cent.
Out of 20,618 candidates who appeared for the examinations conducted between March 13 and April 9 at 32 centres, 19,486 students successfully passed.
Continuing the trend of recent years, girls performed better than boys. A total of 9,414 girls cleared the exams, achieving a pass percentage of 96.51 per cent, while 10,072 boys passed with a pass rate of 94.37 per cent.
GBSHSE Chairman Bhagirath Shetye informed that 67 students benefited from sports marks to pass, while 6,637 candidates had opted under the sports category. Additionally, 342 students cleared the exams through the compensation scheme.
In subject-wise performance, students secured full marks in Mathematics, Science, and Social Science. The highest scores in English and Hindi were 98, while Marathi and Konkani recorded top marks of 99. One student achieved 100 in standard Mathematics, and two students secured perfect scores in basic Mathematics.
Indian Sign Language, introduced this academic year, saw a highest score of 78 and registered an overall pass percentage of 86 per cent.
A total of 178 schools achieved a 100 per cent result, including 34 government schools out of 78, 137 aided institutions, and 7 unaided schools.
The Board has instructed all schools to set up three-member committees to handle student queries regarding results and re-verification. Students have been asked to contact their respective schools for any verification requests, which will then be forwarded to the Board.
