PANAJI: The Goa government is looking to adopt advanced Israeli water conservation techniques to enhance water management, especially for irrigation purposes.
Water Resources Minister Subhash Shirodkar announced on Wednesday that the State would explore methods similar to those used in Israel, known for its pioneering innovations in water conservation. Israel’s successful strategies have helped the country become a global leader in efficient water management.
“Goa has ample water resources, but as development progresses and the population grows, it is crucial to focus on conserving water. We must find ways to tap into more water sources to meet future demands, particularly for irrigation. Israel’s approach can serve as a model for us,” Shirodkar stated.
The move aims to improve water sustainability in the State, ensuring that agricultural needs are met while managing the increasing pressures from urbanization and population growth.
