Panaji: The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, will launch the Ekadasha Teertha Yatra on July 24, marking a major initiative to strengthen spiritual tourism and showcase the state’s rich religious and cultural heritage.
The three day pilgrimage circuit will begin at Shree Mahaganapati Temple, Khandola, and will connect 11 prominent temples across Goa. As part of the launch, two dedicated pilgrimage buses will be flagged off to provide devotees and visitors with a comfortable and seamless travel experience along the route.
The initiative has been designed to encourage visitors to explore Goa beyond its beaches by experiencing its centuries old temple traditions, cultural heritage and spiritual legacy. It also aims to improve accessibility to important places of worship while promoting sustainable and experience driven tourism.
Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte said the initiative reflects Goa’s vision of offering visitors a more holistic experience rooted in the state’s historic temples, traditions and cultural identity. He added that the pilgrimage circuit reinforces the government’s commitment to promoting heritage and spiritual tourism while celebrating the soul of Goa.
The pilgrimage has been divided into three phases. The first day covers Shree Mahaganapati Devasthan at Khandola, Shree Devkikrishna Devasthan at Marcel, Shree Anant Devasthan at Savoi Verem and the historic Shree Mahadev Temple at Tambdi Surla.
The second day’s itinerary includes Shree Brahmadev Devasthan at Brahma Karmali in Valpoi, Shree Saunsthan Dattawadi at Sankhali and Shree Saptakoteshwar Devasthan at Narve.
On the final day, pilgrims will visit Shree Parashuram Devalaya at Poinguinim, Shree Shantadurga Kunkalikarin Devasthan at Fatorpa, Shree Damodar Temple at Zambaulim and Shree Hari Mandir at Margao.
Along the route, visitors will also have the opportunity to explore nearby cultural, historical and natural attractions, offering a well rounded experience that combines spirituality with Goa’s diverse heritage and scenic beauty.
Goa Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Kedar J. Naik said the pilgrimage has been carefully curated to provide an enriching spiritual experience while strengthening heritage tourism and introducing a wider audience to Goa’s vibrant temple traditions.
The launch of the Ekadasha Teertha Yatra forms part of Goa Tourism’s broader strategy to position the state as a year round destination by promoting authentic cultural, spiritual and heritage based experiences alongside its renowned coastline.
